Book Swap

As part of the week, we are hosting a “Brilliant Book Swap” event in collaboration with the Parent Group.  This is part of our collaborative commitment to our school community.  At the Brilliant Book Swap children and parents can donate their well read books in exchange for a book token.  The book tokens can then be used to choose and take a book that you have not read before.  This is a great way to reuse the books that you have finished with at home and refresh your book collection by replacing these with new titles.
The “Brilliant Book Swap” will be held in the foyer.  We will be accepting donated books and exchanging these with book tokens from Wednesday 30th September through to Monday 5th October.  On Thursday 8th October we will open the book swap where tokens can be exchanged for a new book title (remember they will be second hand books that you choose from).
Please note that to receive a token, donated books must be in good condition with no ripped pages and no marks/scribbles on the pages.
Any donated books left over from the event will be donated to our Community Partners.
Thank you very much!

There will be two fantastic visiting authors from the UK called Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore. They will be doing workshops with all the classes. All staff and children are dressing up as book characters on Monday 28th September and the colourful character parade will be held for children and staff at 8.30am.

BIS is also proud to present the 2015 Book Fair at TX in partnership with Fahasa, being held in the TX library.

To all parents, staff and friends of TX, we are excited to announce that the Book Fair is coming to the TX Library on Monday 28th and 29th of September. The Book Fair will be open from 7.30am – 4.00pm.

The Book Fair will be located in the TX Library. Each class will be visiting the Book Fair throughout the two days. Children will be able to reserve books that they would like to buy during this time.

Parents will be able to accompany their children to the Book Fair from 7.30am – 8.00am and 2.30pm – 4.00pm on both days. Parents will be able to pay and collect their children’s books during the hours of the Book Fair.

Fahasa will bring a huge selection of children’s books, as well as some books for adults. There will be multiple copies of each book so do not worry about there not being enough books for everyone!

Newsletter 18th September 2015

Dear Parents,

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for coming last Wednesday for the Parent Consultation. It was really nice seeing you all and having the opportunity to update you on how your child is settling in.

This week, we have seen big progress with the children. They are now beginning to settle in class, say goodbye to their parents and carers with ease and engage in an array of activities in and out of the classroom with only minimal adult support. With your continued help and cooperation, we are confident that the children will settle completely very soon.

Please have a look on how much fun they've had this week!

This week, we have put some home furnitures in the role-play area and the children happily played with them. They cooked pasta, chicken, noodles and more! Some even iron clothes!

To extend the children's interest and learning on this, we will be focusing on 'My Home' next week. We will be talking about families and things that we do at home. If you have any photo or story books about families, please bring them in and we will share them with everyone.

Thank you!

NOTICES:

Newsletter 11th September 2015

Dear Parents,

It has been another fantastic week in F1X! The children are beginning to settle in class and explore the different learning areas more confidently.

Please have a look at some of the highlights this week:
  • In our Creative Area, the children have been making paper plate clowns and painting a variety of pictures. Bao Nhi painted an aeroplane and a dinosaur whilst Kin painted leaves with green paint! Kathy and Henry also had a go at this activity and made colourful pictures!

----------
  • Minh Anh had a great time connecting the dots on our whiteboard display. After showing her how to do it, she was able to make different strokes independently. She even made a picture of herself!
  • Harry and Kin had a go with the transport set. They particularly enjoyed connecting the train coaches and playing with the bus duplo.
  • Kathy had fun making shapes and using the rollers and cutter sas she played with the playdough.
  • Henry and Monica loved exploring sound with the musical instruments. Monica particularly enjoyed playing the maracas whilst Henry loved the bells.

---------
  • In the Fundino playground, Carrot, Kathy and Duc Phu explored the water tray area and had a go at filling and emptying containers. Kathy also did some cooking in the mud kitchen.
  • Minh Anh played happily in the big climbing equipment. She had shown great confidence in climbing the steps and using the slide.
  • Nhat Hoang enjoyed driving the car. He said "Beep! Beep!"

---------
  • In the soft play room, the children have been making models with the shape cushions, jumping on the trampoline, rolling, crawling, singing and dancing!

----------

  • For our circle sessions this week, we have introduce the parachute. Children were asked to hold the toggles and  move the parachute up and down and shake it. They even went under the parachute and waved 'hello' to each other.
  • For song time, we have been singing 'If You're Happy and You Know It' and '5 Cheeky Monkeys'. All the children are now able to join in singing and in doing the actions. Fantastic!

YOU ARE ALL STARS!

NOTICES:

  • Next week, all children will stay in class from 8-11am. Please collect your child on time.
  • Parent Meetings will be on Wednesday 16th September from 2-4pm. Thank you for signing-up.
  • May we remind you to bring your child in class at 8am, immediately say goodbye and come back only at home time. May we request you not to stay outside the classroom, the soft play room and the Fundino playground. Once an unsettled child sees his/her parents/carer, it will be more difficult for her/him to settle in class. We assure you that we will do our best to support your child and ease his/her transition in school.
  • If you arrive in school after 8.10, please secure a late slip from the office before dropping your child in class.
  • All children should bring in their water bottles.
  • Please do not forget to put an extra pair of uniform and underwear in your child's bag in case of accidents.

Thank you very much!

Have a relaxing weekend!

Kind Regards;
Ms Crislet, Ms Grace and the F1 Team

Newsletter 4th September 2015

Dear Parents,

Another week has passed and we are done with the second week of staggered start. Thank you to all the parents who gradually left their children in our care. We greatly appreciate your trust and support in ensuring that the children will begin settling in a new routine at school. Week beginning next, all children will attend school at 8.00am and finish at 9.30am. This is to begin introducing each child as part of the whole classs and allowing them to interact with other children and teachers. Below is the schedule for the next coming weeks.

Children have tried different activities this week. Some of them engaged in role play as we opened our 'F1X Circus' this week. They were so excited in using the till and money as they sell tickets and other food at the stall. Some tried their hands in making clowns in the creative area using variety of materials such as pompom balls, crumpled paper and pipe cleaners.

This week, we were also able to read them a story as a group. We read the story '5 Little Ducks' and were pleased that some of them know the song and were keen on singing along.
