Newsletter 26.02.2016
Dear Parents,
What an exciting week it has been! Children were all engaged in many different activities at school and we are very pleased that they are exploring and discovering more independently. This week we have focused more on our investigating skills through variety of activities such as:
* Coffee beans in the tuff spot
* Observational drawing of a flower
* Colour mixing
* Celery experiment
* Baking soda, vinegar and food colour
We are very happy to have the parents in the classroom last Thursday afternoon to participate in more investigating activities for Science Day. Five activities were set up for everybody to explore and investigate. We hope you all managed to find the answers to the questions that were displayed on our classroom window.
TX Parent Group is hosting a family affair 'TX Fete' on Saturday 5th March from 9am until 1pm. Please see another post for information. Should you have any question about this event don't hesitate to ask any of the teachers.
Have a lovely weekend!
Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

Activity Day and More!
Dear Parents,
Hope you all had a wonderful Tet holiday with your families and loved ones!
This week, the children came back recharged and excited with all the activities in and out of the classroom. We all think that they missed playing with each other and exploring the learning areas together.
This weeks' classroom activities are scooping gelli baff and crystals and filling cups in the investigation area, making oatmeal playdough in the malleable area, shaving foam and paint printing in the creative area, chalk drawing in the mark-making area, following shape patterns in the maths area and using hole punchers and scissors for fine motor skills development.
In the outdoor playgrounds, we have been playing running race and throwing javelins.

For our focus groups this week:
Ms Hoang brought the children in the Fundino playground and lead a running race.
Ms Grace facilitated an Interactive Whiteboard game about matching shapes.
Ms Crislet introduced some articulation exercise for language development.

Another exciting event that happened this week was the EYFS Activity Day! We would like to thank all of you for being with your child and joining in the fun activities we've prepared for the children. We hope you all had a wonderful time!
A big congratulations to all the children for actively participating and being brave in a new setting. Well done F1!
NOTICES:
We would like to welcome Scarlett and her family in our F1 unit. We hope to have many fun memories with you this year!
Thursday 25th February is our Science Day. Parents are all invited to come and join your child at 2pm in the classroom for some Science experiments. Please see separate post about this.
Splash Pool Sessions are every Tuesday and Friday. Please be reminded to bring your child's splash pool kit (swimsuit and towel - all labelled with your child's name) on these days.
Weekend/Holiday Photos: Please upload any weekend/holiday photos of you and your family on your child's blog or send them to us via email (Ms Grace: gracemaling@bisvietnam.com - Ms Crislet: crisletsilva@bisvietnam.com) so your child can share them in class.
Favourite Storybook Bag: Starting next week, each child will have a turn in bringing home our 'Favourite Storybook' bag and put his/her favourite book in. He/She will then share his/her book in class and tell something about it. This activity is intended to support children's language development and build their confidence when expressing their ideas.
Thank you!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Kind Regards;
Ms Crislet, Ms Grace and the F1 Team

Science Day
The greatest day of the year is finally upon us. That’s right everybody, ‘Science Day’ is coming to TX.
This year Science Day will be on Thursday 25th February. Some things may explode, some things may get wet, many many children will get messy, but above all we will be having fun, experimenting the day away.
We will also be receiving a visit from a very special scientist from our An Phu Secondary Campus who will marvel us with their science. All parents are invited into classes at the end of the day to see what we have been doing. Please come in and visit your child’s class from 2 pm on Thursday 25th February.

Dear Parents,
We have had a great time at school this week leading to TET celebration. Prior to the performance last Thursday, children and our teaching assistants have been working really hard learning the song and practising the dance. I know you'll all agree with me that F1 have done a tremendous job performing in front of a big audience! Well done little ones!
Today, all children participated in the TET Fair organised by all the teaching assistants. There were a wide array of craft activities and games. Children were also treated for delicious ice creams!
REMINDERS:
* School closes today 5th February 2016 and will re-open on the 15th February.
* EYFS Activity day will be on the 19th February 2016 at BIS An Phu Primary campus. Please see poster on a separate post.
* Splash pool session will commence on the first week back after the Tet holiday. Please make sure to bring in your child's swimming kit to school every Tuesday and Friday.
* We have been seeing children wearing inappropriate pair of shoes to school. Please can we make sure they are not using 'crocs' type of shoes that don't give proper feet support.
